Serious congratulations are in order for our Transition Year Concern debate team, who beat Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál in Blarney last Wednesday night. Meg Gilley, Liz Hession, Laoise Kelleher and Jodie Donovan were opposing the motion that an "AIDs Free World will be achieved in our lifetime". With some help from their researchers, Deirdre Keane, Emma Creaner and Niamh O'Reilly, and Mr.Cowhey, the girls successfully managed to write and prepare their speeches in under two days.
Unfortunately, support for the team was sparse, with a grand total of zero students traveling to Blarney to show their support. C'mon guys, we can do better than that, can't we? Next time, I hope people will turn out in force to support our debaters, especially the thirds years, because some of you will (hopefully) be doing Concern Debate next year.
