St.Als basketball team travel to Galway!

The girls from our basketball team are travelling to Galway this weekend to play in an all Ireland league. The girls came 3rd in the all Ireland cup in the university of Limerick,We wish the girls the best of luck!

Basketball County Finals

Yesterday, the 3 basketball teams from our school that made it to the county finals went to Neptune Stadium. They were playing against Youghal, Fermoy and St. Marys of Midelton.

The first team to play were the under 16's, they won the final against Youghal with a score of 30-29!! Well done girls!
The second team to play were the under 19 Youths, they won their match as well against Fermoy, they won with a score of  27-26. Another win for St.Als!
The last team to play were against St. Mary's of Midelton. Unfortunately, St.Als lost, but there is always next year!

Just to say a BIG well done to all the players and congratulations to all teams!

Basketball Update

Yesterday, the 19th of November, four St. Als' basketball teams travelled to Glanmire to play four teams from Youghal.

The first team to play was the older Under 19 team captained by sixth year Eimear Lane. They played brilliantly and their hard work earned them St. Als' first win of the day.

The next St. Als' team to take to the court was the Under 16 B team captained by Niamh Murphy. Although they put in their best efforts, the Youghal team this time came away with the win.

The Under 16 C team was captained by third years Niamh Olden and Niamh Wall and this game was a thrilling game to watch. Both teams were very close in score until the final whistle. Unfortunately, Youghal  once again came away with the win.

The final team to play was the younger under 19 team captained by TY Laura Hinchliffe. The day finished with another amazing win for St. Aloysius', as this team played excellently and won by a significant amount.

Although not all of our teams were victorious, they all tried their best and deserve to be congratulated for their hard work!

Under 16 Basketball Win

Congratulations to the under 16 basketball team who traveled to Dublin last Thursday to won 61-14.

We are all very happy with our girls that took part and had a fantastic win, keep it up girls :)

Well done and hard luck to our Under 19 basketball team, who were defeated by the narrowest of margins yesterday by a strong Dublin team in the semi final. The game finished 22-21 with our girls putting in a very strong and convincing performance! Well done girls, ye did us proud!
