Healthy Eating Week 4th-8th March 2013

A group of TY students from Rang Moira have organised, along with the help of Ms Wall, a Healthy Eating Week. Youth for Justice (YFJ) is a subject which all Transition Years take for the year. It involves undertaking a project on a relevant topic, which is of importance to society and our everyday lives. Some of the projects from this year’s TY's include promoting active ageing, a study on teenage pregnancy and mental health.

A number of Rang Moira's students gathered together and decided to complete a project on, 'Healthy Living'. For the Healthy Eating Week, we ask all students of St. Als to be more aware of the foods they are eating, and to drink lots of water- just for your overall well being. We also have quite a busy schedule ourselves, which hopefully we will learn lots of new information from that we can pass on to you guys- the rest of the school. Here is our timetable:

Monday 4th: All TY's- presentation from the Irish Heart Foundation.

Tuesday 5th: Rang Moira and MairĂn receiving demonstration from local chef on healthy recipes

Wednesday 6th: All TY's- Talk from the local butcher about different types of meat

Thursday 7th March: All TY's- talk from doctor/ dietician on general guidelines for maintaining good health.

Following the Healthy Eating Week, our group will continue to work on this project and try to come up with new ideas and activities to try and promote our message to the school and local community. Please keep an eye out around the school and on this blog for more updates!
